91 photos of love on the wall

I truly believe the best wedding photos capture honesty. The elements in a pairing of people that share the history bringing them to this moment, and the energy they have created together for their present and future. Somehow, every wedding that I have been asked to photograph has had this old-world love about it. Love that you can trust, admiration that brims the eyes, a belief in one another. I think I have been so lucky in capturing great moments because I search through my lens for what I hope love should be.

You will see this as I share Sandra and Vito. There was too much beauty that day...close families, fierce friendships, laughter, tears and honest colour (both in personality and in lens). I only hope you can enjoy the cloudy, lovely day as Rebecca and I did.

Getting ready with the girls was a blast. Some Michael Buble to set the mood, a brief moment of Jack Johnson, followed by some Pink to jumpstart their energy. The bridesmaids & co filled the house with the spirit of the day.

Rebecca always gets to hang out with the groomsmen, and has a talent for blending in/staying low key which is needed in a space full of men getting ready. She had an especially lovely visit with the mother of the groom this day. It seems as though the energy in their home was the same I had also been experiencing all morning.

Rebecca's text when she left the groomsmen for the ceremony was full of excitement. It's almost like we're bringing two sides of a story together when we meet up right before the bride walks down the aisle. Their quaint ceremony space was bursting with vivid support as Sandra and Vito made the transition into their marriage.

And here's where the honest colour comes in to play. These girls were wearing the right shade for this stunning autumn setting.

(My favourite photo of the day...)

As you can see, I could not snap enough images of this couple. My cameras were happy.

The reception was a perfectly vivacious way for the guests to celebrate and party into the night. A lot of laughter and even more love, family and friends danced into the night. We wish nothing but warmth and luck for Sandra and Vito and they continue their life together.

tying the knots

As can be told from the lovely gap between posts...it's been a while. Many friends - old and new - have recently commented that it was nice to have photos with small stories that I loved to tell, adding something else to my portfolio. So...without a lengthy drawl of explanation - we shall continue:)

The past year is to come. I want to re-begin with a sweet couple from the heart of a city holding my heart - Ottawa. They are one of the reasons I will hopefully continue posting my small photo adventures here - even if only for myself to read and remember in years to come.

Ashley and Mark are that couple - who engage in their own small conversation while you're checking your settings, giving you access to paparazziing and capturing their realness. Visiting a place from their past, a sailing and tennis club along the Ottawa river, allowed us to create a few memories for their future. There is an energy about them that makes you excited for their current place in life. Hopefully, you'll see (feel) what I mean.
